A while ago Microsoft made the modern lists available in first release SharePoint online tenants. Time for me to take a good look at the new Flow integration.
When you open an empty modern list you get the following view:
To add a Flow to your list click the “Flow” dropdown and then click “Add Flow”. A sidebar will appear:
I chose the “Send a customized email when a new SharePoint list item is added” flow for this example. The Microsoft Flow website opens in a new tab in my browser. To make sure this Flow works, I have to sign in to all needed accounts. As you can see in the following screenshot, there are multiple connections to services needed to run this Flow. I only have to click the "Continue" button for now to move on.
After you click the continue button the Flow will be created and you can see the Flow:
The only thing you have to do now is click the "Create Flow" button at the bottom of the page. When the create flow process is done you will see a message at the bottom "Your flow was created. To exit, click Done."
Make sure to click done and let's go back to the list to check if the flow works. Add a new listitem and check your e-mail.
If everything went well you should receive an e-mail like this:
Although there is still a lot to do for the Flow team, like governance, I think this is a great start. For a lot of users this will be a great addition to SharePoint.
